Behind Our Beeswax

Why 100% beeswax candles?
Besides the sweet, beeswax aroma and enjoying the ambiance of a flickering candle, beeswax candles have so many amazing health benefits:
  • Releases negative ions leaving the air free of chemicals, pollutants, allergens, and toxins making it a natural air purifier
  • Helps relieve headaches, allergies, depression, and seasonal depression
  • Promotes relaxation and helps your body absorb oxygen better
  • Sustainable and environment friendly
Buying and burning beeswax candles also helps save the bees by keeping small bee farms in business. We source our beeswax from a small bee farm in Wisconsin so we know it is pure unlike some beeswax you can find online. Those golden blocks smell even more amazing then they look!

Why you should say no to soy:
In 2009, 91% of US grown soy was genetically modified, now 98% of soy wax has been genetically modified (GMO) or mixed with GMO soy.  GM soy crops are heavily sprayed with toxic pesticides, causing harm to both the harvesters and the soil. There are no regulations for what candle makers have to put on their labels including what claims they can make. It is completely legal for a candle company to put "all-natural" or even "organic soy" on their labels when in fact it's not possible.  In fact, even a 100% soy candle must be processed with a small amount of paraffin.  Burning a soy candle will release small amounts of the carcinogens and toxins found in paraffin.

Why we don't add any fragrance or essential oils into our candles:
If you look at the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of most essential oils it includes a statement along the lines of “The smoke from burning essential oils may contain potential carcinogens, such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.” Burning fragranced candles produce smoke with almost as many toxins as those produce by cigarettes. Scented candles create highly toxic benzene and toluene when burned (both are known carcinogens). In fact, the toxins released from scented candles are the same as those found in diesel fuel fumes.
